“Thanks to those people, I can play baseball in good health now.”
NC infielder Do Tae-hoon, 30, was in a terrible accident in September 2022. The car he was travelling in collided with a car travelling in reverse and overturned. He was saved by bystanders, but he says he was too stunned to say thank you.
That’s why Do Tae-hoon has been playing baseball more than anyone else this season. He may have expected that by playing baseball well and communicating with the media, he would naturally find life-savers. In fact, in five games last week, he went 5-for-12 with a .417 batting average, four RBIs, and a 1.283 OPS. It was the fourth-best weekly average in the league.
In particular, Do went 4-for-6 with one home run and four RBIs in a home series against Hanwha on 26-27 April. He said through the club, “I was in scoring position from the first at-bat, and with good results, I was able to relax in the second and third at-bats, and the overall results were good. The strategy of focusing on the fast ball worked well.”
He then brought up his accident. “In September last year, I was involved in a car accident where I collided with a reversing vehicle and my car rolled over. At that time, there were people who risked a second accident on the highway to help me. At the time, I was too distraught from the accident to thank them,” he said.스포츠토토
“I always thought that I should thank them, and now that it’s all over, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I should do, because I contacted the police and asked for their contact information, but I didn’t have it. I think I’m healthy enough to play baseball now because of them. If they see me, I hope they will contact me through the club. I want to see them and thank them.”
Do Tae-hoon’s desire to thank his lifesavers is genuine. The fact that he said this publicly, even though it could have been overlooked, shows us a lot about his character. He is a true human being before he is a baseball player.
Do Tae-hoon is a very important piece of the puzzle for NC this season. He fills the void left by veteran third baseman Park Seok-min’s hamstring injury and, more recently, by Oh Young-soo, a big first baseman the club has been strategically developing. The right-handed hitting infielder, who hit .225 in his career, is batting .311 this season.
This is a player who is capable of doing so well, and it’s giddy for us as NCs to think about how close he came to being in an accident. It would be heartwarming for all of us if Do Tae-hoon continues to play baseball well, get a lot of media exposure, and find a lifesaver.
