‘Defending two titles in one season’… Challenging the world’s No. 1 Schaeffler record

Scotty Scheffler (USA), who regained the world No. 1, will challenge for a second consecutive victory at the Dell Technology Match Play of the World Golf Championship (WGC), a Class A tournament on the PGA Tour.

Schaeffler will play in the round of 64 of the tournament, which opens on the 23rd (Korean time) at Austin Golf Course (par 71) in Texas, USA. Schaeffler, who defeated Kevin Kisner (USA) in this competition last year and won, will compete as the ‘defending champion’. In addition, he is aiming to create a rare record of two consecutive losses for the second time in a season, following two consecutive losses at the WM Phoenix Open in February.

The PGA Tour also ranked Schaeffler as the number one candidate for the championship in the power rankings ahead of the opening of the tournament. 안전놀이터

Only 64 players will participate in this tournament in order of world ranking. Four players will face each other in a group for three days, and only the top player will advance to the round of 16. Four matches are played over the two days of the weekend, divided into morning and afternoon sessions, with the semi-finals and finals on the last day. It is a 5-day race, and it is a physical fitness competition where more than 100 holes are played until the final 7th round.

Since this competition is coming to an end this year, it has the honor of being the last winner.

Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland, world No. 3) and Jon Rahm (Spain, World No. 2), who are competing fiercely for the world No. 1 spot this season, will also participate. McIlroy won the event in 2015 and was runner-up in 2012, while Rahm only won runner-up in 2017 without winning.

Meanwhile, among Korean players, ‘Korean Big 4’ will participate. Kim Joo-hyung and Kim Si-woo have two wins of the season, and Lim Seong-jae and Lee Kyung-hoon challenge for the first win of the season. JTBC Golf & Sports will broadcast the first round of the round of 64 live from 3 am on the 23rd.
