Gangwon FC finally broke their goal drought.
Choi Yong-soo’s side drew 2-2 with Jeju United in the 16th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at Jeju World Cup Stadium on 3 March at 7pm. Kangwon scored for the first time in six league games to pick up a valuable point. With 12 points from two wins, six draws and eight defeats, Gangwon remains in 11th place in the league, but has opened up a goal difference on bottom-placed Suwon Samsung (8 points), who lost in the Suwon derby earlier in the day.
Gangwon came out with a 3-4-3 formation again. Kim Dae-won, Lee Jung-hyeop, and Yang Hyun-joon lined up in the back three, with Kim Jin-ho and Kang Ji-hoon on the left and right wingbacks. The midfield consisted of Shin Min-woo and Han Hae-young, while Yoon Seok-young, Kim Young-bin, and Lim Chang-woo formed the back three. Yoo Sang-hoon started in goal.
Jeju also lined up in a 3-4-3. Jonatan Ling, Yuri Jonatan and Kim Dae-hwan were deployed in the back three, while Lee Chang-min and Han Jong-mu formed the midfield. In the first minute of the second half, substitute Hayes got lucky when her shot from the right side of the arc hit a defender and deflected in. Jeju quickly regained the lead. In the sixth minute of the second half, Kim Dae-won made a critical back-pass error and found Yuri Jonatan one-on-one in the box. Jonatan scored the winning goal with a sensational shot over the goalkeeper.
Gangwon’s defeat was deepening. However, the players did not give up. In the 34th minute, Kim Jin-ho made a daring run from the right side of the arc and quickly got into the box before sending a ground ball cross to Park Sang-hyuk.
