“I’ve found balance + confidence” KT welcomes return of starter exclusivity

“His velocity is up and he’s stable.”

He was a stalwart of KT’s starting staff, but a back injury last year forced him to step down and move to the bullpen. This year, he didn’t make the starting lineup either. Amidst uncertainty, he stepped in as a substitute starter but failed to make an impact. Eventually, he went to the second team in late April and returned to find his pitching balance and confidence. This is the story of KT’s selection exclusivity (27).

In particular, their “young ace,” Choi Min-joon, had his season cut short by elbow surgery. In the wake of KT’s bad luck, Choi has been filling the void with his Altoran-like performance. For KT, Choi’s resurgence is a welcome one. KT manager Lee Kang-cheol said, “Recently, (Bae) Je-seong’s ball has been stable. His velocity has increased and he is showing stable pitching on the mound,” Lee said.

In the first game of a three-game homestand against Lotte in the 2023 KBO League at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on April 20, KT starting pitcher Yoo Ji-seong pitched six innings of two-run (one earned) ball to lead the team to a 5-2 victory.

In six innings, Lee allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits (including a home run) and two walks while striking out six. It was also the second quality start (QS) of the season for the right-hander, who allowed three runs or less in six or more innings of work, following her first start of the year on April 9 against Sajik Lotte. He also picked up his third win of the season (5-0).

After the game, Lee said, “I’m glad we were able to start the first game of the midweek series with a win,” and added, “We will prepare well for the Gwangju KIA game on the 25th and continue our good form.”토토사이트

He has been doing a great job since coming up from the second team. On April 14, he started against the Incheon SSG and pitched five innings of five-hit ball, striking out four and walking one in a 14-4 victory. Thanks to his performance, KT was able to end a three-game losing streak. He has now won two straight starts.

“At the beginning of the season, my body balance was not good until I was sent down to the second team. I wasn’t satisfied with my pitches. I was thinking, ‘How did I throw the ball,'” he said.

“I worked on my personal training based on the advice given by coaches Kim Tae-han and Je Chun-mo about balance,” he said. “Thanks to this, I was able to return to the first team with both my balance and confidence restored. It’s positive that I can throw my ball regardless of winning or losing,” he said.

There’s still plenty of time left in KT’s season. They are currently in the bottom half of the standings, but they have the power to rise at any moment. That’s why it’s good to see Yeo Ji-seong in the starting lineup, and why we’re looking forward to the rest of the season to see if he can help KT rebound.
