Previously, at the end of last month, Japan signed a 4-year renewal contract with head coach Hajime Moriyasu, until the World Cup in North and Central America. For the first time in Japanese history, the national team coach has been reappointed.
Japan, along with Germany, Spain and Costa Rica, were also tied in the group of death, but they proudly won first place in the group and advanced to the round of 16.
On the other hand, Korea reached the round of 16 in the away World Cup for the first time in 12 years with former coach Paulo Bento, but could not reach an agreement during the contract period and terminated the contract as it was.
Currently, the national team is looking for a foreign coach, and so far, several candidates have been mentioned, including Jose Bordalas, Vahid Halilhozic, Chichi and Torsten Fink.
